Popped in for lunch, albeit a little late, on Friday 5th February. Had two courses (£25) and a glass of very nice NZ Sauvignon.
Food was excellent.
Gressingham duck as a starter, pearl barley base, cannot remember the sauce but it was great, a single mange tout and a thin slice of pear that appeared to be slighly caramelised added an interesting taste combination. Very well presented.
As I was late my main was the final one out of the kitchen, 5 various sous chefs buzzing arround Paul Kitching like bees around honey, two wait staff enthralled and watching, produced a wonderful dish of warm smoked haddock with a large scallop. Vegetables were sweet potato, a small slightly glazed parsnip and another root vegetable (not sure what now), topped with a couple of strips of lemon grass. Wonderful texture and taste, and again beautifully presented.
Waiting staff were attentive and Katie came and checked that I was ok.
Certainly made my trip to Edinburgh memorable and matched my usual haunts in the 'big smoke'.
Go and try it as soon as you can.
Just had a fabulous meal at 21212,now Edinburgh's 5th Michelin Starred restaurant. Paul Kitching is a whiz with food ,combinations are so exciting. Love the decor and elegant drawing room. My next visit will be for a special occasion with my family in their private dinning room. Love ittake a look you'll be amazed.
