I first saw the poster advertising this motion picture and was instantly pulled I am a huge sucker for a gangster thriller esque film that packed with gun war fare and the typical gangster traits.
I found out that this film was to be subtitled and was a little worried at first, the instant I sat down to watch this film the language barrier was not an issue in the slightest and in fact was very easy to follow.
The film grips you from start to finish you are kept on the edge of your seats when tense moments come up, you instantly feel empathy in the first couple of scenes, then taken on a world of mixed and different emotions which has its very funny moments.
claiming that no one kills him unless he asks for it!!
I loved this film very much and hats off to a brilliant director, producer and to Vincent well done and congratulations on braking boundaries.
Looking forward to part two.
I thought the Director, Jean Francois Richet, Production Designer and Director of Photography did an excellent job of creating the sense of time and space ( mostly the 60's and 70's) in which the story and characters moved in much the way David Fincher did with " Zodiac". A criticism levelled at the piece has been we don't get into what makes Cassel's Mesrine tick but to quote Johnny Depp's Dillinger in " Public Enemies " I rob banks. Mesrine is a bit of a throwback to a bygone cop and robbers thriller and for all that it works.
